Vintage Chanel Shopper Tote

December 28, 2015

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, Fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”- Coco Chanel

Chanel is iconic, classic, innovative…let us all bask in the name! For as long as I can remember Chanel has been a brand of such grander in my eyes, a global fashion house to aspire for and to. You can imagine my surprise when my soon-to-be mother in law sent me on a tiny Christmas scavenger hunt, which started out with a Chanel Authenticity Card, and ended with the ultimate treasure being this Vintage Chanel XL Shopper Tote!

A little History for you.

The classic Shopper Tote design dates back to the original Chanel handbag of the 1920’s, where Coco Chanel introduced a handbag that was able to free up her hands. A tote with straps. Since this original Chanel “2.55” Handbag, there have been several variations to the design, including different leather and fabric combinations and colors with metal and leather interwoven straps. All of which donned with the iconic interlocking CC.

Unlike most of the Chanel totes you see, this particular tan leather shopper tote has a smooth surface rather than the quilted diamond pattern. It also has a stitched CC logo on the front, gold chain shoulder straps with woven leather, genuine leather lining, a zip closure pocket on the interior and authentic gold “Chanel” and “Made in France” stamps also on the interior.
